Class is limited to 6 participants max. 

 

Course Agenda and Details : 

This 1-Day Equine Reproductive Ultrasound course is designed to teach the basic skills and techniques of reproductive ultrasound technique and image interpretation in mares.

The course provides approximately 1.5 hours of classroom instruction and 3-4 hours of guided hands-on practice.   

 

  • Basics of ultrasonography and ultrasound equipment.
  • Understanding the ultrasound machine functions and key controls.
  • Basics of reproductive system anatomy and physiology in mares.
  • Pregnancy Diagnosis.
  • Identifying Twin Pregnancies.
  • Ovarian structure (follicles, cysts, corpus luteum).
  • Scanning Technique.
  •  

     

    What to bring:  

    It is required that you bring your own mares to examine. Please bring a pair of clean coveralls and rubber boots to wear in the stable for the hands-on portion of the training. It is ideal if you have short sleeves (or one short sleeve for your scanning arm). We will have lots of plastic sleeves and disposable gloves on hand for you. We will have coffee on site and lunch brought in. If you have any food allergies or restrictions, kindly let us know. If you have an ultrasound machine, please bring your ultrasound equipment with you to use for the hands-on portion. If you do not yet have an ultrasound machine, kindly let us know and we will arrange for a machine for you to use.
